The Incredible Judges Of The Hackaday Prize
The last challenge of The Hackaday Prize has ended. Over the past few months, we’ve gotten a sneak peek at over a thousand amazing projects, from Open Hardware to Human Computer Interfaces. This is a contest, though, and to decide the winner, we’re tapping some of the greats in the hardware world to judge these astonishing projects.
Below are just a preview of the judges in this year’s Hackaday Prize. In the next few weeks, we’ll be sending the judging sheets out to them, tallying the results, and in just under a month we’ll be announcing the winners of the Hackaday Prize at the Hackaday Superconference in Pasadena. This is not an event to be missed — not only are we going to hear some fantastic technical talks from the hardware greats, but we’re also going to see who will walk away with the Grand Prize of $50,000.

Maker Faire Denver is entering its second year as the only Feature Maker Faire in the Rocky Mountains and surrounding states! It features awe-inspiring maker creations, hands-on activities for makers of all ages, presentations and competitions. We are also dedicating ourselves to growing our engagement with social impact makers.

This group is based upon the idea that you are interested in hanging out and discussing hardware. Please bring a piece of hardware to show off or talk about. Are you interested in hardware, but you haven’t built anything yet? Show off software you have built! Or come prepared to talk about the projects you want to build.
There are no organized talks, it’s literally a show and tell at a bar or restaurant. In case you missed it two paragraphs ago, bring hardware. Seriously, just bring anything to talk about 🙂
Open Hardware Summit badges have arrived
The Open Hardware Summit is coming on Thursday, September 27th at MIT. OSH Park and Screaming Circuits are producing an electronic conference badge this year for the Summit. The badge features an e-paper display and an ESP32 microcontroller.
All 300 badges assembled by Screaming Circuits have arrived!

Maker Faire NY Panel: Ask a Maker!
I’m excited to be hosting an “Ask a Maker!” panel at Maker Faire New York. The panel will be on Saturday, September 22 at 3:30 pm on the Make: Frontiers stage. My guests will include Jimmy DiResta, Sophy Wong, and Matt Stultz.
I’ll be accepting audience questions for these amazing makers with a broad range of skills and experiences. If you have questions but aren’t going to be at Maker Faire NY, you can submit them in the comments here, or send them to me by email. Questions about aspects of making including processes, tools, inspiration, sourcing, design, and techniques are all welcome. I’ll accept questions about genres of making including electronics, woodworking, sewing, digital fabrication, papercraft, writing, video making, cooking and more.
The rest of the schedule of performances and talks looks amazing, and there is a great group of makers showing their projects as well. Hope to see you there!
