Hardware Happy Hour (3H) Chicago was excellent this past Tuesday at Saint Lou’s!

Sebastian Gajate was in town all the way from Argentina and presented The Amp Hour host Chris Gammell with his own fútbol jersey!

It’s Maker Faire Bay Area time of year again and we’re holding our 4th annual Hackaday and Tindie MFBA Meetup!

After a ridiculously fun Saturday at Maker Faire, carry on the festivities with us at O’Neill’s in San Mateo on Saturday night from 7pm.

Build a Synthesizer with Darcy Neal in Chicago

Darcy Neal will lead a workshop in Chicago on building your own synthesizer:

We’ll learn about some of the building blocks of creating a synthesizer using the 4046 VCO and the classic 40106 CMOS ICs. The 4046 is a well documented and powerful IC that can be turned into a modular synth voice with just a few added components. Participants will learn to solder together their own prototyping PCB, build a circuit on a breadboard from a schematic, experiment with sensors, and learn the basics about how to produce custom circuit boards using design software like Kicad and Fritzing. No experience is necessary, but basic electronic knowledge or a strong interest in synths will be helpful.

The Ada Lovelace Fellowship encourages women, LGBTA+, and/or other minorities in the open technology movement to both participate and nurture an incredible, diverse community within open source.

For the fifth year running, we are ecstatic to offer TEN (10) Open Hardware Fellowships to members of the community. This includes travel assistance and entrance to the 2017 open Hardware Summit!

We are at an exciting point in time for open source and hope to encourage everyone, no matter their walk in life, to embrace and participate in this incredible movement!
